Bully Awareness Week at WCMS

Washington County Middle School acknowledged Bully Awareness Week with several activities for the students.  Monday morning the students began in the gym and watched a “You-Tube” video about bullying and the effects of bullying on people.  During their RTI classes that day, the students completed an activity to increase their awareness of the different types of bullying and what they should do if themselves or someone they know is being bullied.  Each of these classes had a door decorating contest where the students picked the slogan and bullying content for the door.  Mrs. Kristen Bartley’s class won the door decorating contest.  Congratulations to her and her students for a great job.  The three students pictured above are Jacob Carney, Austin Coffey, and Kelsey Murphy.  These students were nominated by their teachers to win the Caring Kids Award sponsored by the Family Resource Department.  Mrs. Barbara Pettus presented these awards to the students on Monday.  These students show outstanding friendship to their peers, are great role models, and are willing to stand up for what is right.  Way to go Jacob, Austin, and Kelsey!  Included also are pictures of Mrs. Kristen Bartley’s winning door and other doors in the school that were decorated.
